Highway 87 Corridor
The Higway 87 corridor between Fort Bragg and Sanford is a strong growth area for Harnett County. Nearly 70,000 people live along and beside the corridor within numerous subdivisions, stand alone lots and within Linden Oaks, the military housing development. Commercial growth has a good start and continues to grow adding new shopping/service opportunities for residents.
Intersections with Highway 24 and Highway 27 connect residents to points west such as Carthage and Southern Pines or to the East, Lillington, Angier, Dunn and others. The recently opened Sanford By-Pass offers enhanced connectivity to Raleigh and points north. Within 7 miles from the park on Hwy 87 you connect to the by-ass and within just a few more miles at highway speeds you connect to US 1, 15/501 for travel to Raleigh to the North or Southern Pines/Pinehurst to the South.
Numerous developers have erected For Sale signs along the corridor offering potential sites for development. Commercial and retail interest is good but could be much better. Health Care providers also have a strong interest in the corridor and some have begun to identify their sites for future development.
